Tips for Buying Real Estate on the North Shore

The home buying process can be both exciting and overwhelming. Whether you’re a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned pro, there are a few key steps you should follow to ensure a successful purchase.

  • Get pre-approved for a mortgage. Before you start looking at homes, it’s important to get pre-approved for a mortgage. This will give you a better idea of what you can afford and will also make you a more attractive buyer to sellers. Whether you choose to use a Bank or Mortgage Broker, your lender will review your credit, income, and assets to determine how much you can borrow.
  • Start looking for a home. With your pre-approval in hand, you can start looking for a home that fits your needs and budget. Keeping in mind that you may need to look for several homes before finding the right one. Although I am always available to you, this would be a great time to get in touch with me, so I can share intimate knowledge of the neighborhoods you’re most interested in.
  • With Ben Gula by your side to advise on and help determine a fair price on the home you want to purchase, it’s time to make an offer. Make sure you discuss and fully understand all of the terms, conditions, subjects and responsibilities you have as a Buyer with your Realtor. Be prepared to negotiate, as the seller may counter your initial offer.
  • It’s highly advisable to get a home inspection. Before closing on a home, it’s important to have a professional home inspector evaluate the property. The inspector will look for any potential issues that may not be visible during your showings such as pests or structural problems. Thereafter, they will provide you with a detailed report. This will give you a better understanding of the condition of the home and help you make an informed decision.
  • Close on the home. Once your offer is accepted and the inspection is complete, it’s time to close on the home. This process involves signing all of the necessary paperwork, transferring ownership of the property and paying the closing costs.
  • Move in! Once you are in possession of the home, you can finally move into it and make it your own!

The home buying process can be complex and time-consuming, but by following these steps, you can make it a successful and enjoyable experience. Remember to get pre-approved for a mortgage, and have a good understanding of your budget and your needs. Buying a house is one of the most important decisions you will make, and you want to make sure you are fully informed and prepared.
